about
Mirror is about breaking out of obsessive self-critique. A "mirror mirror on the wall" refrain that acts as a mantra of self motivation. Grace wrote this song, like so many others of hers, on a whim and uploaded a 15-second clip to hear instagram. The reaction was instantaneous and prompted the song's last-minute addition to the end of her forthcoming record "2nd."
lyrics
I didn’t know what I was on about
I think I’m finally getting over the drought
I start to ramble when I open my mouth
I think I finally got it f-figured out
He wants to know me
He opens his mouth
I think about it every then then and now
I didn’t know what I was on about
I think I finally got it f-figured out
Mirror
Mirror on the wall
Money
Move me along
Heart
In the air
Baby
I don’t care
I think I think about it too much now
I think I try too hard to figure it out
I didn’t know what I was on about
I think I finally got it f-figured out
Mirror
Mirror on the wall
Money
Move me along
Heart
In the air
Baby
I don’t care
Mirror
Mirror on the wall
Money
Move me along
Heart
In the air
Baby
I don’t care
I think I think about it too much now
I think I finally got it f-figured out
Mirror

Alvvays has always been great, but with this album they took it to the next level. Every one of these songs is lodged in my brain now, permanently (in a good way). s. moxley
